Manual Movement Therapy

We began our manual movement therapy care as a supplement to chiropractic regimens. But our licensed massage therapists proved so popular with our patients that we’ve expanded our offerings to therapeutic massage-only regimens. Working conditions, stress and anxiety create real physical ailments. Manual movement therapy can counteract these and help keep body and mind in balance, while showing measurable results in lowering blood pressure, alleviating stiffness and headaches, improving posture, enabling more restful sleep and bolstering mental alertness and creativity.

Safko Chiropractic offers 60- and 90-minute sessions. We’ll even work in shorter sessions to fit your schedule and offer discounts on multiple-session packages to help keep you on top of it.

Dr. Safko and his massage therapy team work with each client to tailor just the right blend treatments from among these tested therapies:

Swedish Manual Therapy uses long, smooth, soothing strokes aimed at relaxing your body and mind.

Deep Tissue Manual Therapy uses Swedish techniques to effect release in the deeper muscles of the body tightened and bound over a longer period of time by your work environment, stress or posture. Focused work on specific muscles can offer relief from chronic pain.

Trigger Point Therapy applies precise pressure on a specific place in a muscle from which pain radiates. Pressure on these “trigger points” increases circulation and neural stimulation to the area, prompting the muscle to relax and loosen. Works effectively on conditions such as sciatica.

Acupressure stimulates pressure points along what venerable Chinese medical traditions identify as meridians that conduct the body’s energy, “chi,” to its systems. Acupressure gently stimulates these points to maintain or correct the flow of this energy, activating endorphins and the body’s self-healing abilities, thus making this an effective preventative therapy.

Shiatsu, a traditional Japanese form of massage, combines acupressure with passive stretching and joint mobilization. Especially good for athletes or anyone who wants an uplifting, relaxing and energizing glow.

Athletic Performance Therapy combines Deep Tissue work with Shiatsu and Trigger Point Therapy to optimize your performance in your sport of choice. Pre-event manual therapy energizes you, post-event manual therapy soothes.

Craniosacral Therapy uses light touch to restore balance and healthy function to the craniosacral system, affecting the flow of the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Effects deep relaxation, alleviates the acute pain of headaches and Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome and stimulates the body into a state of self-healing, making it more receptive to other therapies.

Reflexology operates on the principle that our hands, feet and ears contain reflexes relative to every organ in the body. Pressure on “reflex zones” helps can provide natural relief for and can assist in detoxification and boosting circulation.

Intensive Foot Therapy Simple gravity leaves your feet with the most stagnant circulation and highest amount of metabolic waste, so this therapy is about more than pedal pain. A 30-minute session blends principles of Reflexology, Shiatsu and Myofascial work, plantar fasciitis and other previous injuries, but aches and stress throughout your entire body as well.

Facial Rejuvenation Therapy can stimulate the skin and knead the years away. Boosts circulation in your head, neck and shoulders, gently and effectively releasing tension and toxins. With repeated treatment your face will be left looking relaxed, and therefore younger, your complexion toned and rejuvenated.

Prenatal Therapy addresses the many changes in alignment and stress incumbent during pregnancy. Whether its the gravitational effects like fatigue, backaches and swelling, headaches or simply work away the anxieties some women experience in maternity, prenatal manual movement therapy can help your body adjust as the changes occur and even just get better, sounder sleep key to your health and your baby’s.

Muscle Energy Techniques can be used to address mobility limitations and joint stiffness, with the therapist working in tandem with the patient to create counter-balancing isometric force, working specific muscle groups and adjacent flex-points at a time.
