Certified Chiropractic Therapies

From acute neck pain to more nagging pains, strains and sprains of the lower back, from scoliosis treatments and spine alignments to chronic corrective care, Safko Chiropractic brings to the table a welter of proven therapies.

Treatment begins with a series of 30-45 minute sessions, each consisting of hot pack application to the affected area, most followed by 15-minute manual body therapy, Active Release Techniques (ART), and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF). Individual cases might call for other techniques and methods deemed medically necessary for your condition. Our therapeutic toolkit can include physiotherapy, consisting of ultrasound and electric stimulation for reduction of pain, muscle spasm and inflammation, or the Graston Technique for chronic soft tissue conditions.

Active Release Techniques (ART®): Hands-on manipulative therapy

ART is a patented, state-of-the-art soft-tissue treatment that addresses problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and soft-tissues that surround them. It employs hands-on manual manipulation and patient motion to “free up” the problem areas where adhesions have developed between muscles, blood vessels, nerves and fascia (fibrous tissues that connect the former) due to repetitive, chronic or acute compression of nerves within these soft tissues. www.activerelease.com

Graston Technique®: Patented tool-assisted muscle therapy

Graston Technique is an advanced form of instrument-assisted therapy that accelerates pain reduction and healing time for traumatized soft tissue, while increasing muscular function. Fascia (fibrous tissue that connects muscles and internal organs) and muscle fibers are coaxed and healed via use of precision-weighted series of stainless steel tools, breaking down scar tissue and impediments to the patient’s range of motion. www.grastontechnique.com

Myofascial Release (MFR)
The MFR therapist works with the patient, not on the patient. The therapist responds to the natural feedback from the patient’s body by stretching the stiff connective tissues (fascia), while the patient stretches against the therapist’s resistance. MFR realigns the fascial “web” that encompasses the body, returning it to its more natural alignment and posture.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
PNF is an advanced flexibility therapy built on a series of stretching exercises most often used to treat lower back, neck and shoulder pain related to posture. Originally used as a rehabilitative therapy, PNF effectively improves flexibility, strength and stamina, and range of motion in a damaged or stiff muscle. It is o

Positional Release Techniques
Positional Release Techniques are gentle manual treatments that address pain and spasms by reseting muscle tone and enhancing circulation. These methods allow chronically tense tissues to relax and can be used as part of integrated therapeutic interventions that employ other soft tissue and joint normalization procedures.
